Walter Sisulu University will reopen on Monday after a strike-related lock-out was lifted at noon Sunday.
University spokesperson, Angela Church, says all staff and students are requested to return to the university so that business may continue.
She says the academic calendar will be re-aligned to ensure that there are sufficient teaching days available to "save the academic year", and the second semester.
Church has appealed to everyone to work together to ensure that stability returns at the university as soon as possible.
The lifting of the lockout follows a wage agreement between striking employees and university management.
The strike closed the embattled institution for seven weeks.
