Two brothers from Kwanobuhle in Uitenhage have been arrested for murder.
Police spokesperson, lieutenant-colonel Priscilla Naidu, says they allegedly killed a man who attacked their sister with a panga in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The 45-year-old victim, who was the woman's ex-boyfriend, had gone to her house on Monday night armed with a panga and broke windows and kicked down the door.
Naidu says the woman's two brothers then intervened and allegedly attacked him with his own panga, an axe and a spade.
She says they are expected to appear in court soon on a charge of murder.
