The South African Medical Association says its satisfied for now that doctors in the Eastern Cape are being paid their salaries.
The association threatened to call for national intervention in the Bhisho Health Department following reports that many doctors had not been paid their salaries.
Sama's acting president, Dr Mark Sonderup, said today that they are satisfied that an attempt has been made in the right direction.
He says the SA Medical Association still reserves its right to call for national government intervention because the issues affecting the Eastern Cape health department are endemic.
Bhisho said payments had been made last week to doctors who had not received their salaries.
