Uitenhage man (38) is expected to appear in court today in connection with the alleged sexual assault of his 13-year-old stepdaughter.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says he will be charged with rape.
She says relatives noticed a change in the teenager's behaviour and she later disclosed the incident.
Police were informed and the man, who is an armed response officer at a local security business, was arrested on Wednesday.
Naidu says the stepfather was allegedly besotted with the teenager and had sent her letters and messages declaring his love for her.
