Eastern Cape police have arrested two people for the alleged attack on four United Democratic Movement members in Mbizana.
Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said that they were arrested on Tuesday on a charge of common assault and have already appeared in court.
They will be back in court again on the 28 March.
This would appear to be the first incident of election violence reported in the Eastern Cape.
In an earlier statement police said that the UDM members were working on an election campaign in Mbizana when they were allegedly attacked by people wearing ANC regalia.
The four were treated in hospital for minor injuries.
Algoa FM News understands that the Independent Electoral Commission in the Eastern Cape will be looking into the matter.
