Police in Port Elizabeth are searching for four men who shot and wounded two people in Helenvale on Monday night.
Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says the incident happened at about 9.30 pm.
The suspects chased a man through the streets but he managed to get away.
The men however thought he was hiding in a house in an informal settlement and fired 7 shots through the door.
Six men were inside the house at the time and two were shot, one in the leg and one in the arm.
The two men aged 23 and 26 are in a stable condition in hospital.
