Police in Stutterheim are monitoring a protest on the N6 where two trucks were set alight on Wednesday morning.
Police Spokesperson Captain Siphokazi Mawisa says the men ran into the bushes shortly after setting the vehicles alight.
Officers on the scene made use of rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.
At the moment the N6 is only accessible to small vehicles until the two trucks are towed away.
Police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property.
No arrests have been made.
