Two truck drivers were killed on Thursday following a head-on collission on the R72 in Port Alfred near Birha river towards East London.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says a bakery truck with two occupants and an articulated container truck with just a driver, collided head-on shortly before 5 am.
He says the passenger in the bakery truck was rushed to hospital.
Binqose says just 15 minutes later a female pedestrian was killed on the N6 near Jamestown.
He says a Ford SUV with three occupants were heading towards Jamestown from Komani when they knocked down the unknown woman.
The victim was declared dead on the scene.
The names of the deceased are not yet known and two cases of culpable homicide are under investigation.
