Two men aged 27 and 32 will appear in the Barkley East magistrates court on Thursday on charges of attempted murder, possession of a dangerous weapon and ammunition.
This is after allegedly attacking a 69-year-old man on his farm in the Barkley East area on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the farmer was on his way to the generator room which is 15 meters away from the house when he was attacked and stabbed in the neck by an unknown person.
"He managed to get back into the house and was rushed to hospital by his son."
Naidu says on Wednesday morning while the local police were en route to Maletswai (formerly Aliwal North), they spotted two men who fitted the description of the suspects.
"On seeing the police, the men started running but were apprehended."
She adds that detectives are probing their links to other housebreakings in the area.
