Anti-Gang Unit members in Gqeberha arrested two suspects within an hour of a fatal shooting in the Vastrap informal settlement of the Bethelsdorp policing area on Sunday.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Menalik Maleba was shot and killed and his 18-year-old friend wounded when a suspect entered their house and opened fire around 10.30 in the morning.
The shooter then fled in Maleba’s vehicle, a VW Polo classic, which was spotted by Anti-Gang Unit members in Booysens Park Drive a short while later.
Colonel Naidu say two of the three occupants in the vehicle were arrested and detained.
The suspects, aged 24 and 29, are being held in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of suspected stolen property.
The vehicle was confiscated for further investigation.
