Members of the Port Elizabeth Flying Squad have arrested two alleged gang members and confiscated firearms while they were on their way to a funeral.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says police received information of a suspicious white Jeep that was driving in Standford Road in a funeral convoy on Friday afternoon.
She says the vehicle was pulled over, and the seven occupants were searched.
Two were found in possession of a 9mm pistol, of which the serial number was filed off, and a 7.65 mm pistol, which was reported stolen in Walmer in January last year.
The two men, aged 24, are being detained on charges of the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as possession of suspected stolen property.
Naidu says a CCTV camera, cash and diving equipment were also seized.
The vehicle was also impounded for further investigation.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday.
