Southern Cape police have released the names of two of the victims of Thursday's boating tragedy on the Keurbooms River at Plettenberg Bay.
Police spokesperson, captain Bernadine Steyn, identified the woman who's body was found on Thursday night as 42-year-old Laetitia Wildeman of Plettenberg Bay and her eight-year-old son, Luanne, who's body was found on Friday morning.
The search for four men, aged between 40 and 50, and the missing tiller river boat is still continuing.
Family members and friends gathered at the Keurbooms River this morning where the boating tragedy occurred.
The NSRI says five members of the same family and a friend had been out fishing in a small river boat when they failed to return yesterday.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says "from what we understand, although the full details are not yet confirmed, 5 people (believed to be family members - 3 adult males, an adult female and her son) and a friend (an adult male), believed to all be from Plettenberg Bay, had gone fishing on the river on a small river boat (a tiller boat) yesterday but when they failed to return the alarm was raised by their family members sparking a massive search and rescue operation."
Meanwhile, police divers are continuing the search for two 14-year-old boys who went missing in the sea at Kidds Beach outside East London nearly a week ago.
The body of a young girl who was also swept out to sea by a wave was recovered last Saturday.
The learners, from the Faith Christian School in Mthatha, were on a school outing when tragedy struck.
