Two people were killed and eight others were injured in a single vehicle accident in the Eastern Cape on Friday night.
The Provincial Transport Department said the accident happened on a wet road surface on the N2 in EmaXesibeni (formerly Mount Ayliff) in the direction of Kokstad.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said the driver of an Isuzu bakkie lost control of the vehicle which overturned.
He said there were 15 occupants on the back of the vehicle and two people fell off the back and died on the scene.
Seven people sustained severe injuries while another seven sustained slight injuries and taken to the provincial hospital for treatment.
Binqose said a case of culpable homicide is being investigation by police in EmaXesibeni.
