Police in Cradock are investigating the murder of two people who were brutally killed in town this past week.
Spokesperson Captain Lariane Jonker says the first murder docket was opened on Sunday morning and the second on Monday.
She says on Sunday at about 8.40 am a police official driving to work noticed a person lying next to a wall in Cross Street outside a tavern.
Upon further investigation, the officer noticed that the body was that of a female who sustained several stab wounds to her upper body.
Jonker says in the second incident the body of a man was found in an open field next to the N10, National Road.
She says he was lying face down and was badly beaten with stones.
Any person with information is asked to contact the police.
The names of the deceased have not been released.
