Five people have been killed and several other passengers injured in a collision involving a midibus and a truck in Mthatha.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says the accident happened at around 3 am in Sutherland Street, Mthatha, when a truck collided with an Iveco Midibus.
The department says a man and four women travelling in the midibus died instantly.
The Iveco was carrying around 20 passengers and those injured were rushed to hospital.
The cause of the accident is being investigated and a culpable homicide docket has been opened.
