Two bodies found in Gqeberha last week have been identified after loved ones recognised their tattoos.
Police issued two separate statements last week after the naked body of a woman was found in a drain in Bethelsdorp on the 31st of August and a day later the body of a man was discovered on a gravel road in Standford Road.
Both deceased had several distinctive tattoos on their bodies that resulted in family members coming forward.
The bodies were formally identified on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the woman was identified as 20-year-old Velencia Kelly from Extention 36 in Bethelsdorp while the man was identified as 35-year-old Cleevan Octavian Muller.
She says Kelly's naked body was discovered by municipal workers who were busy clearing blockages in a stormwater drain.
Colonel Naidu says she had no visible injuries and her body was already in an advanced stage of decomposition.
She says in the case of Muller, a murder investigation is underway.
Both families indicated that they had not seen the deceased in quite some time.
