Thieves have broken into the Victoria Park Primary School in Port Elizabeth stealing a large but undisclosed amount of cash.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the burglary occurred some time between 7.30pm Wednesday night and 6am Thursday morning when a staff member arrived at the school.
Naidu said the school's safe had been broken into and money and other items taken.
She said the administration office had also been ransacked.
The Victoria Park Primary School robbery came hours after an armed robbery at the Harvest Christian School in Walmer on Wednesday in which a substantial but undisclosed amount of money was taken.
Naidu issued a warning to schools, institutions and businesses to be alert.
"During this time of the year we actually see an increase in the robbery of cash at businesses, including shops and schools. So, we'd like to actually warn these institutions to keep minimum cash on the premises and to do regular banking. Also, if possible, they should employ a security guard during office hours."
No arrests have yet been made in both case and anyone who may have information that can assist the investigation should contact the nearest police station.
