Two Port Elizabeth men were sentenced in the regional court to an effective 15 years imprisonment each for killing a criminal accomplice.
Magistrate Pumla Sibiya sentenced 23-year-old, Andile Mpindyana and 26-year-old Xhanti Sizani on Tuesday for the brutal killing of Andile Mbambani in January, 2018.
The court heard that he had hidden the spoils from a robbery from his accomplices before they turned on him.
Mbambani was assaulted, stabbed with a nail-clipper and had his throat slit before the attackers broke his legs so that his body could be stuffed into a duvet.
Sibiya and Mpindyana were arrested in February 2018, while a third person involved in Mbambani’s murder died before the arrests were made.
The National Prosecuting Authority said that the men were sentenced to a further 10 years each on a charge of kidnapping and two years each for pointing of a firearm.
The sentences will, however, run concurrently with the sentence for murder.
