Two more suspects, aged 23 and 31, have been apprehended by the community for the alleged rape of a 28-year-old woman in Port Elizabeth's Northern areas.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says the incident took place in the early hours of Friday morning.
She says the woman met a taxi driver whom she knew in Central and who was in the company of two other men.
Naidu says after drinking at a bar, they all went to a house in Salsoneville where the alleged rape took place.
Members of the local community apprehended one suspect and handed him over to the police, but the search for the other two continued.
Naidu says late that same evening, police responded to a complaint of two men being assaulted by the community in Bloemendal.
She says the men were severely assaulted and investigations revealed that they were the outstanding suspects in the rape case.
They were arrested and taken to hospital for medical attention.
All three suspects are being detained and are expected to appear in court soon.
