Two people were killed and 8 others injured after a minibus taxi drove into the back of a truck on the R61 between Mthatha and Port St Johns.
Provincial Traffic deputy director Charles Bramwell says the accident happened on Wednesday morning near Langeni, going towards Libode.
The two victims, both women, were killed on impact.
Bramwell says it is suspected that speeding was involved.
He urged motorists to keep their following distances.
