A 33-year-old man who is accused of attempted murder after allegedly cutting off the private parts of a two-year-old boy is due to appear in the George Magistrates Court on Wednesday for a formal bail application.
The Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie says the incident happened in Rosemoor a fortnight ago. Pojie says the mother of the child was asleep when she woke up from his screams. He says she ran out of her house with the blood-stained child, reporting that her partner had cut the boy’s penis with a pair of scissors.
The victim was rushed to the George hospital from where he was transferred to the Red Cross Children's hospital in Cape Town in a critical condition. The child had lost a lot of blood but it is expected that he will be discharged from hospital on Wednesday.
