Two people were killed in two separate accidents in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday night.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says the accidents were on the N6 and R72 respectively.
He says just before 7 pm the driver of an articulated truck lost control and overturned.
The deceased was travelling from Port Alfred towards East London when the accident occurred.
Binqose says his body had to be removed using the jaws of life.
He says the second accident was a head-on collision on the N6 involving a Toyota Sedan and an Isuzu truck.
Binqose says the accident happened at about 11.30 pm.
He says the driver of the Sedan, who hails from Komani was declared dead on the scene while the two occupants in the truck escaped unharmed.
It is suspected that fatigue contributed to the accident.
Two cases of culpable homicide are under investigation.
