The DA says it will be approaching the Green Scorpions to urgently intervene in what it says is a looming health crisis in the Makana Municipality.
Councillor, Cary Clark, says tests done recently on water samples from seven sites along the Kowie, Blaauwkrantz and Mtayane Rivers, had revealed dangerously high E.coli counts in certain areas.
She says the tests were done by an independent expert at Rhodes University.
Clark says E.coli levels above 100 colony-forming units per 100 millilitres of water, are considered dangerous to humans and animals alike.
She says the tests revealed counts of between 280 to 30 000 CFU's per 100 millimetres.
