Three children have been left severely traumatized following the murder of a couple in their home in Gqeberha on Monday.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says it is alleged that unknown suspects entered a house in Bikana Street in Motherwell where they shot the 34-year-old Zimkita Takuta in the head while she was watching television with her five-year-old son and his two cousins.
She says another adult family member, believed to be mentally challenged was also present.
Col Naidu says the suspects then went into the bedroom where they shot Zimkita's husband, Siyabulela several times.
She says all the children and the adult remained in the house with the bodies of their loved ones until Tuesday morning at 10 am when the cousins' mother arrived to fetch her children, a seven-year-old boy and his five-year-old sister.
The woman made the gruesome discovery and raised the alarm.
The motive for the double murder is unknown at this stage.
