Kariega police are searching for a suspect who allegedly set a house on fire in Blikkiesdorp on Sunday morning, in which two people died.
Spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart says six people were inside the house when the fire started shortly after midnight.
She says some of the occupants managed to break down the back door and escaped the flames.
A family friend, aged 37, went back into the house to rescue a 3-year-old boy, but they were both trapped and burned to death.
Captain Swart says the suspect is known and an arrest is imminent.
Police are investigating cases of murder, attempted murder, and arson.
