Two people have been killed in a road accident on the N2 near the Amalinda off-ramp in East London.
Provincial Traffic department spokesperson Unathi Binqose reports that both victims were burnt beyond recognition in the accident earlier on Monday morning.
He says an SUV with one occupant collided head-on with a sedan with two occupants.
The sedan caught fire and both its occupants died on the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The identities of the victims are unknown at this stage.
