Police in Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape have opened a culpable homicide docket after two people died when an out of control truck smashed into eight cars on the R-61.
Police spokesperson, Captain Nozuko Handile, said 15 people were injured in Saturday afternoon's accident.
She said among the injured were two children, ten women, and three men.
Handile said that the truck driver, who was not injured, reported that his brakes may have failed as the vehicle careered down a hill, smashing into cars on the road.
She said the names of the two male victims, aged 25 and 28, have not yet been released.
