Detectives in Gqeberha are searching for three suspects who shot and killed two people and injured another at Airport Valley in Walmer on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says it is alleged that 45-year-old Siyabulela Mayeza left his shack to go to the toilet shortly before 10 pm when his family heard multiple gunshots outside.
She says when the family came out to investigate they discovered Mayeza's body.
Colonel Naidu says the victim's son and cousin ran to a nearby spaza shop to purchase airtime to phone the police when they too were shot at.
She says the victim's 20-year-old cousin Banathi John sustained several gunshot wounds and collapsed and died at the scene.
Mayeza's son managed to run home when he collapsed from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Colonel Naidu says he was taken to a nearby hospital.
She says the motive for this senseless attack is unknown at this stage and urged anybody with information to come forward.
