Two men from Heidelberg have been admitted to a hospital in Riversdale with serious injuries after a suspected hijacking went wrong.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says a preliminary investigation suggests that a suspect hijacked a vehicle on Geldenhuys Road near the N2 in Heidelberg in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The owner of the vehicle was still in the car when the suspect lost control and the vehicle overturned.
A knife that was presumably used during the hijacking was also found at the scene of the accident.
Spies says both men are still in the hospital.
He says the circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known and Heidelberg police are investigating a case of hijacking.
