Two Port Elizabeth men accused of corruption are expected to go on trial in the city's magistrates court on Tuesday
The state alleges that SA Revenue Service tax consultant Robert Fortuin and co-accused Thomas Sysaar had allegedly engaged in corrupt activities by contacting a complainant to assist them in sorting out their outstanding tax in connection with properties purchased in Jeffreysbay.
It is alleged that the accused had demanded a fee of R80 000 in return for the services to be rendered.
A meeting was later set up for Sysaar to exchange money and he was arrested at the scene
Fortuin was also arrested at the same time and was found in possession of documents relating to the case.
