George police have confirmed that the bodies of two elderly women had been found in a vehicle that plunged down a cliff at the notorious Voëlklip lookout-point at Herold's Bay on Saturday evening.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies says the bodies of the two 75-year-old women were retrieved from the wreckage of the white Mazda following an intensive rescue operation that lasted until the early hours of Sunday morning.
Spies says police were notified about the incident just before 7 pm on Saturday.
He says the circumstances surrounding the incident are still unknown.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
