A 50-year-old motorcyclist is in police custody in George after he allegedly ran over a provincial traffic officer before trying to flee the scene.
It is alleged that three motorcyclists were stopped by officers on Saturday when they were allegedly overtaking on a solid barrier line and a painted island.
The 50-year-old suspect was apprehended by another provincial traffic officer when he tried to flee the scene.
He will remain in police custody until his court appearance where he will be charged with attempted murder and reckless and negligent driving.
A spokesperson for the Western Cape's Department of Transport and Public Works Jandre Bakker says the officer who was run over is currently in hospital.
