KING WILLIAM’S TOWN, March 18 (ANA) – Two men have been arrested for rape in two separate cases in the Eastern Cape, police said on Saturday.
Dutywa police arrested a 36-year-old man for the alleged rape of a 25-year-old woman, Captain Jackson Manatha said.
“The allegation is that the two were busy enjoying themselves on Friday 17 March 2017 at about [8pm] at Govan Mbeki township, Dutywa. Suddenly the suspect became vicious and accosted the victim,” he said.
The man was alleged to have raped the woman. “No one intervened as the suspect was with the victim inside the house.”
She managed to run away and reported the case at Dutywa police station. Police acted swiftly and arrested the man. He had been charged with rape and would appear in the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Manatha said.
In another incident, Willowvale police arrested a 27-year-old man for the alleged rape of his ex-girlfriend aged 22.
“It is alleged that the suspect dragged the victim to his home on Thursday 16 March 2017 at about [10pm] at Chafutweni village, Willowvale. The two were lovers before but the victim ended the relationship.”
A case of rape was registered at the Willowvale police station on Friday. The man was traced and arrested. He would appear in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a rape charge, Manatha said.
