Eastern Cape police are investigating cases of murder and kidnapping, after two brothers were kidnapped from their home near Lady Frere at the weekend.
Spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni says two brothers, aged 35 and 45 were sleeping at their homestead in the Dapu Administrative Area, when three unknown men entered and assaulted them in the early hours of yesterday morning.
One of the brothers is a Prison Warder working at Lady Frere.
Mdleleni says after they tied them with ropes, they were forced into a car, and the suspects drove in the direction of Cala.
When they approached Cala, they stabbed the Prison Warder, who died instantly, and assaulted his brother.
The suspects then dumped them in an open veld.
The brother who survived managed to reach the community and was taken to a hospital.
Mdleleni says the vehicle was later found abandoned near Mthata.
