Twelve suspects arrested in Alice for public violence

Eastern Cape police have arrested twelve suspects for acts of violence, including the stoning of private and police vehicles in Alice.

Spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni says Public Order Police were deployed to quell Friday's violence, open blocked roads and disperse the violent crowd.

He says the situation has since returned to normal and police continue to monitor the area.

Tonjeni says six men and six women, aged between 20 and 32 were arrested and charged for public violence.

They are expected to appear in the Alice Magistrate's Court on Monday.
