Police in Peddie are investigating a double murder after the bodies of two children were discovered on Tuesday evening.
Spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says the two girls, aged 11 and 15, were discovered at the Bhingqala locality in the bushes.
She says both were stabbed multiple times.
The motive for the murders is unknown at this stage.
Colonel Soci says they have not made any arrests yet, but they are following up on strong leads.
Meanwhile, the MEC for Social Development in the Eastern Cape Siphokazi Lusithi says the suspect is known to the family.
She says the Department has visited the families to offer emotional support and counselling and will also assist with funeral arrangements.
The victims were related.
