Two children, aged six and eight, have drowned tragically in tank at sewerage canal in Louterwater near Kareedouw.
The incident happened on Monday when three children were playing nearby the sewerage canal.
Police spokeperson, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei, says a six-year-old boy slipped and fell into the tank.
He says an eight-year-old girl jumped in to try and save him but also tragically drowned.
Seekoei says the third child ran to alert the children's parents, one of whom recovered the body of the boy.
He says police divers recovered the body of the little girl on Monday afternoon.
Police have cautioned parents to be vigilant as the whereabout of their children particularly during the school holidays.
An inquest docket has been opened.
