East London police arrested two suspects after they attempted to steal bank cards at an ATM inside the Duncan Village shopping complex on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais says police were alerted of the incident by community members.
He says it is alleged that the two suspects stole a victim's bank card at the ATM in order to withdraw money from the account.
Marais says the suspects pretended to assist the victim and in the process swopped bank cards.
Police confiscated their vehicle, an undisclosed amount of money, several other bank cards, wallets, cellphones and laptops.
The suspects also had a set of number plates which was found hidden in their vehicle, which is not registered to the vehicle.
They will appear in court on Thursday
