Eastern Cape police have arrested two suspects in Cradock for the illegal possession of cellphone tower batteries.
Spokesperson, Captain Lariane Jonker says highway patrol members noticed a suspicious-looking Isuzu bakkie entering the Karoo town from the N10 on Friday.
She says after they stopped the vehicle, one suspect got out and fled the scene.
Jonker says six tower batteries valued at R250 000 were confiscated.
Two men, aged 27 and 29, were arrested and will appear in the Cradock Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
