The investigation into the brutal murder of respected Zwide doctor, Bantu Noqekwa, has taken an unexpected twist after two more suspects - believed to have been linked to his murder - were also linked to a different shooting in the New Brighton Magistrate's Court in Gqeberha on Friday.
The two were implicated shortly after Noqekwa's ex-wife, Nothukela Ethel Mphahlwa Noqekwa, was charged with orchestrating his murder.
Police confirmed that the suspects were also linked to a shooting at a tavern in Kwazakhele in April, in which four people were gunned down and seven injured.
The accused were charged with four counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder concerning the shooting at the tavern.
A fourth man who is also believed to be linked to the doctor's murder did not appear in court.
Major General Zithulele Dladla said the suspects were arrested in Cape Town and Gqeberha, respectively.
Police confirmed that all four of the suspects linked to Noqekwa's murder will appear in court again on June 15
