Twenty killed on EC roads

Twenty people were killed on Eastern Cape roads since Thursday.

Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said three pedestrians were among those killed.

He said children were killed in two of the accidents reported by traffic authorities.

In one incident, a man was killed when he fell off a tractor in the Willowvale area.

Bramwell said that mechanical failure may have led to that crash.

Meanwhile, a motorist will appear in court in Humansdorp on Monday on a charge of speeding.

Bramwell said that the driver of a Mercedes Mini-Bus was recorded traveling at a speed of 171km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N2 between Humansdorp and Port Elizabeth.

He was detained at Kabega Park police station.
