Twenty foreign nationals arrested in Molteno for stealing copper

Stolen copper confiscated from suspects.

SAPS

Twenty foreign nationals are expected to appear in the Molteno Magistrates Court on Thursday after they were arrested for the possession of copper.

Police Spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni says the suspects were arrested by members of the Rapid Rail unit and Visible police.

He says police received information from Security officers from Isidingo about a train that is stuck between Molteno and Strekrstroom on Tuesday.

Captain Tonjeni says police responded swiftly and caught the suspects loading copper into two busses.

The value of the copper is estimated to be R455 000.00

The 20 suspects aged between 35 and 45 will all appear in court together.
