Humewood detectives are investigating a case of business robbery after a security guard was overpowered and tied up at a construction site on Tuesday night.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 45-year-old security guard was on duty on a site in Forest Hill when he was overpowered by a group of at least 12 suspects.
Fifteen 20-litre containers were filled with diesel which the gang siphoned from a tank and two trucks on site. The security guard’s cell phone was also taken.
The estimated value of the stolen diesel is estimated at R10 000.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Humewood Police station in Port Elizabeth.
