Tsitsikamma crash victims all from one family

Six people killed in a head-on collission on the N2 near Tsitsikamma on Sunday have been identified.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the victims, all from one family were from Kwazakhele in Gqeberha.

They were positively identified as 38-year-old driver Sandile Patrick, his 27-year-old girlfriend Zikhona and their two boys Kungane and Azingce Heleni aged three and one respectively.

Colonel Naidu says the others were identified as the 71-year-old grandmother Noyakhe and 51-year-old Thembela.

Just before 6 pm, the Heleni family was travelling in a Mini Cooper in the direction of the Western Cape when they collided head-on with a Toyota Rav4, driving in the direction of the Eastern Cape.

Colonel Naidu says on impact, the Mini Cooper overturned and caught alight and all occupants died on impact.

The occupants of the Rav4 were a male and female tourist who sustained injuries.

A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
