Truck drives into protesters in Middelburg, Eastern Cape

One person has been killed after a truck drove into a group of protesters in Middelburg in the Eastern Cape.

Protesters have closed down all routes entering Middelburg including the N10, N9 and R56.

A police spokesperson Captain Lariane Jonker says another person was injured in the incident and the situation remains tense.

The road is currently blocked with stones and tyres and motorists are urged to use alternative routes when travelling to Colesberg, Steynsburg, Graaff-Reinet and Cradock.
