Police officer allegedly kills man for having affair with his wife

A police officer from Kwa Ceza in Kwazulu Natal is in police custody after he shot and killed a man on Thursday morning.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) says the 39-year-old allegedly killed a 47-year-old whom he believed was having an affair with his wife.

IPID spokesperson Ndileka Cola says the officer will appear in the Mahlabathini Magistrate Court on Friday to face a charge of murder.

The name of the victim was not released to the media.
