Truck drivers block Gqeberha roads in ongoing protest over foreign drivers

Motorists in Gqeberha are urged to avoid the roads near the intersection of Jujana Street and Addo Road in Markman due to truck drivers blocking the road.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says about 22 trucks are involved in the blockade and accessibility in the area is at a minimum.

She says the All Truck Drivers Foundation (ATDF) has taken responsibility for the blockage and said it has to do with their ongoing grievance about the employment of foreign nationals as truck drivers.

Public Order Policing, Provincial and Metro traffic, SAPS K9, Anti-Gang Unit and SAPS Swartkops are in attendance.
