Truck driver killed on N1 near Hanover

A truck driver was killed in an accident on the N1 near Hanover in the Karoo early on Tuesday morning. 

Police say the truck overturned after hitting a stationery bakkie which had a mechanical problem.

The truck driver was trapped inside the wreckage, and emergency personnel had to use the jaws of life to free the body.

Six occupants in the bakkie escaped without injuries.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
