A truck driver was burned beyond recognition in a head-on collision between two trucks near Swellendam on Tuesday morning.
Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says the accident happened about 10 km's on the Ashton side of the R60.
He says the road was closed in both directions to allow rescue teams to clear the accident scene.
Officers were redirecting traffic from the Ashton side via Drew on the R317 and then through Stormsvlei to the N2.
Motorists traveling from Swellendam is being redirected at the crash scene via Leeuriver to get back on the R60.
The cause of the accident is not yet known and the name of the deceased has not yet been released.
