A 40-year-old truck driver is in custody after police confiscated his cargo of more than 60-thousand rands worth of liquor.
Captain Andre Beetge says he was arrested this morning at a roadblock in Kinkelbos just outside Port Elizabeth.
Captain Beetge says police members stopped the truck as well as a silver Caravelle and found 5 000 litres of alcohol packed in cases of twelve 1 litre bottles.
The truck driver admitted ownership of the alcohol and was arrested on the spot.
He is expected to appear in the Alexandria Magistrates' Court soon where he will be charged under the regulations of the Disaster
Management Act, for the illegal transportation of alcohol.
